If you had told me years ago that I would dedicate my time to rescuing cats, I wouldn’t have believed you. In fact, back in 2018, I was genuinely scared of felines. But my entire world changed the day a tiny, confused kitten was left right in front of my door. She was meowing at the door, completely convinced that my apartment was her house. I had absolutely no experience handling cats or kittens, and my initial reaction was pure panic—but that panic was quickly overshadowed by a deep, undeniable sense of pity for this little creature.
Determined to fix the situation, I started knocking on doors, searching the neighboring apartments and buildings to find out who she belonged to. Eventually, I found the owner. I learned that the woman’s husband had initially rescued the kitten, but after keeping her for just a couple of weeks, the woman decided she no longer wanted the responsibility and simply threw her out. I pleaded with her, trying my absolute best to convince her that you cannot just abandon a pet like that. Despite my efforts, she completely refused to take the kitten back.
I was terrified and had no idea what to do. With no other options, I brought the tiny kitten inside and set her up safely in my washroom to give myself time to think. My panic had to turn into action. I immediately started posting adoption ads on every animal forum and network I could find. During this time, I realized she needed to eat, so I reached out to a kind neighbor who had experience with cats. Together, we managed to get her fed. Those few hours of caring for her were incredibly stressful, but they changed everything.
Miraculously, after just a couple of hours of frantically posting, a wonderful person saw my ad, showed interest, and came forward to adopt her. That little kitten safely finding her forever home became my very first rescue project.
Since that day in 2018, I simply never stopped. The fear I once had was completely replaced by a fierce dedication to saving the most vulnerable felines on the streets. Today, my primary specialty lies in the exact thing that once terrified me: intensive neonatal care, round-the-clock bottle feeding, and managing complex special medical cases. Every sleepless night and every foster success story stems from that one tiny kitten who showed up at my door and changed my life forever.
